Lenovo’s ZUK smartphones are getting pretty popular lately, so the fact that they’re updated to the latest version of Android doesn’t come as a surprised. Today, the Chinese manufacturer announced that the Z2 and Z2 Pro, released last summer, are set to receive Android 7.0 Nougat next week. An exact date wasn’t mentioned, but since it’s just a matter of days, it doesn’t count that much.
The handsets will also receive the manufacturer’s new interface, ZUI 2.5, which will replace the old version, ZUI 2.0. As for the operating system, Nougat brings various fixes for bugs, as well as performance enhancements, making the ZUK Z2 and Z2 Pro run even better. Also, we’re looking forward to seeing a new security patch, as well as optimization of split screen experience. Of course, all changes will be incorporated in the ZUI 2.5 build, for the manufacturer’s latest smartphone, the ZUK Edge.
On the other side, the fact that ZUK will start rolling out the update next week is a bit surprising! Back in November, they teased the release of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Z2, while in December, an official announcement was claiming that Z2 Pro users will start enjoying Google’s latest dessert on January 28. But we’re pretty sure that nobody is upset because they’re getting it once week earlier and will finally make the step forward from Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
If you own one of these two devices, make sure you check the System update section, from the Settings menu, next week and see if the update is already available.
