Even though initially it was just an experiment, in order to test the Chinese market, the first Xiaomi Redmi Pro turned out to be a real success, so the fact that the manufacturer decided to release a second generation on the handset, the Redmi Pro 2, doesn’t come as a surprise.
However, there’s still some time left until it will start hitting the market, but we already got the chance to see what we should expect from it, thanks to a leaked promo image!
The first thing we could notice is the lack of a dual camera setup, as the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is now using an improved, 12 MP Sony IMX 362 sensor, with dual Pixel auto focus and large 1.4µm pixels, being significantly better than Mi Mix’s camera!
Otherwise, the handset also received a battery boost, relying now on a 4500 mAh power pack (the previous model has a 4050 mAh one), as well as a whooping 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, for the top version. Because yes, Xiaomi will also release a cheaper version, with 4 GB of RAM and just 64 gigs of native storage.
As for the rest of the specs, we’re looking forward to seeing a 5.5″ full HD display, Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board, a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C port.
Finally, the same leaked image reveals that the base version of the Redmi Pro 2 will have a price tag of CNY 1600, which is about $230, while for the 6 GB version, you’ll have to pay CNY 1800, which is $260.
