It looks like Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is already working at the Redmi 5 handset, since a set of images with it has already appeared online. And it seems like this could be the real deal or an early prototype, since it looks very accurate. Besides this, we also have an idea about what to expect in terms of specs, since they were recently leaked, thanks to a TENAA listing.
Apparently, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 won’t come with a metallic body, relying on poly-carbonate and what could be a glossy finish. Spec-wise, under the hood it could have an ARM processor, running at 2.0GHz, while the initial TENAA listing was pointing to a 1.4GHz unit.
The images don’t show any signs of a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone, despite previous rumors, but it might as well be embedded somewhere on the front. However, there’s no guarantee that these images are accurate, so our recommendation is to take everything with a pinch of salt.
Initially, it was believed that the handset will also feature a 5.0″ display, as well as a 4000 mAh battery and dual-SIM capabilities. Otherwise, the trail is pretty cold, but we expect something a bit better than the Redmi 4, which had a maximum of 4GB of RAM, 16, 32 or 64GB of storage, with the possibility of expanding it, while the camera department was represented by a 13MP rear-mounted unit, with f/2.0 aperture, and a 5MP front unit, with f/2.2 aperture.
Stay tuned, as we will be back with more information, as soon as anything new comes up.
