Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is apparently thinking at that specific category consisting in users who want a compact handset, with a display measuring under 5 inches and rocking a flagship configuration, as the latest rumours are pointing to a future release of the Xiaomi Mi S.
The news emerged in China and it seems that the smartphone is already in the works, while most of its details have been leaked by a set of so-called promotional materials. Of course, we can’t guarantee that any of the information they’re providing is genuine, but for the moment, it’s still better than nothing.
To be more specific, the Xiaomi Mi S should come with a 4.6″ 1080p display, with 600-nit brightness and 2.5D curved glass covering it. Under the hood, it’s expected to have a Snapdragon 821 chipset, alongside 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage.
The camera department will also be pretty impressive, as the 12 MP snapper on the back is rumoured to be relying on Sony’s IMX378 sensor, with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection auto-focus, as well as the ability to shoot 4K videos, alongside a dual-LED flash. As for the selfie unit, it will have 4 MP, with f/2.0 aperture and full HD video recording capabilities.
A 2,600 mAh battery will keep things powered, while Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology allows you to replenish that battery level in no time, through the USB Type-C port. Oh, and the 3.5 mm jack is present too! We’re not sure about the presence of a fingerprint scanner, but it should be embedded in the physical Home button on the front.
Currently, there aren’t any details about a release date for the Xiaomi Mi S, nor a launch date, so our recommendation is to keep an eye on our blog, since we will be back with more details soon!
