The highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi 6 was finally made official, during a special event held in the manufacturer’s home country, China, despite the shares not performing incredibly well, due to the stronger and stronger competition, coming from the likes of Huawei, Vivo or Oppo.
Back to the handset, the Mi 6 comes with an impressive design, featuring glass on both front and back, as well as a stainless steel frame, with a polish which requires 12 days and 40 different processes to be achieved! On the front, we can notice a physical home button, also doubling as a fingerprint sensor, about which the manufacturer says it’s ‘non-porous’. Basically, this means that it’s more durable and resistant to soiling.
Moving on to the display, Xiaomi’s flagship has a 5.15″ panel, With a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, it features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chip, alongside a whooping amount of RAM: 6GB. As for the storage options, you can get the phone with either 64 or 128 gigs of space, non-expandable, though.
On the back, the phone has a dual-camera setup, with no humps, consisting in two 12 MP snappers, one with a wide angle and the secondary being a tele model, similar to the one on the iPhone 7 Plus. Also, the first one has 4-axis optical image stabilization, so expect some pretty cool snapshots from this phone!
Finally, the battery has a capacity of 3,350mAh, which should be more than enough for a full day of intensive use, considering the size of the phone.
Unfortunately, the Xiaomi Mi 6 doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but the manufacturer tried to compensate this by adding stereo speakers and splash resistance.
The phone will become available on April 28, with a starting price of CNY 2,499 ($360), for the 64GB version. If you want the 128GB version, you’ll have to pay CNY 2,899 ($420), while the exclusive ceramic version will retail at CNY 2,999 ($435).
We’re looking forward to seeing how the market will receive this affordable handset, definitely able to compete with more pricey models, like the LG G6 or the Samsung Galaxy S8, which is already incredibly popular.
