HTC users were pretty lucky this year, as the manufacturer started rolling out the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update for a lot of models, including the One M9, last year’s flagship. Currently, the update is available over the air and will reach a lot of users in the next weeks. However, if you can’t wait until this happens, you can also update HTC One M9 to Android 7.0 Nougat manually, as the Nougat firmware is also available for flashing, via Recovery.
As you probably know, the latest Android brings new features like Multiwindow, an improved notifications system, new messaging apps, the Seamless update, Vulkan API and the excellent Doze feature, helping you to save battery life, alongside many other improvements.
Warnings & Requirements
Before starting the Android 7.0 Nougat update process on your HTC One M9, here are a few aspects you should consider:
- The firmware which you’re about to install is just for the HTC One M9. Don’t try installing it on another device, since it won’t work at all.
- Make sure you take a complete backup of the phone, for the safe side, and only then start updating the phone.
- Check the battery level and see if it’s at least at 50%, so you can prevent dealing with an accidental shutdown.
- Follow the steps below correctly, since there’s the risk of bricking your phone if you skip any of them.
