However, you can’t do everything from this point of view, considering that both of them come with a locked bootloader!
You can now easily unlock bootloader of Moto G5 and G5 Plus, by simply following our guide below. Unlock Bootloader Of Moto G5 and G5 Plus
Step 1: Go to the phone’s Settings menu and look for the Build Number, then tap on it 7 times, in order to enable the Developer Options menu.
Step 2: Here, enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlock.
Step 3: Download the ADB and fastboot driver Here – Download, then install it on your PC.
Step 4: After installing it, you will have an ADB folder on your PC. Here, you can find the adb.exe file, as well as the fastboot.exe file.
Step 5: Press and hold Shift and right click anywhere in the folder, then select Open command window.
Step 6: Connect the phone to a PC and enter fastboot mode, by typing adb reboot bootloader in the command prompt.
Step 7: In the same command window, type fastboot oem get_unlock_data. This will return a string, which you should copy in a notepad and delete all the blank space, leaving just a single line string.
Step 8: Go to Motorola’s unlock bootloader site and create a free account.
Step 9: Past the string copied at the previous step in the Moto site and click on “Can my device be unlocked?” If everything is OK, you can request an unlock key.
Step 10: You will receive the unlock key on the same email you used for registering on the Motorola site.
Step 11: Copy the unlock key and execute the fastboot oem unlock UNLOCK_KEY command. This will unlock the bootloader on Moto G5 and Moto G5.
Step 12: Reboot your phone.
