Japanese manufacturer Sony is expected to hold a special presentation on September 1st, during IFA 2016, where at least two new handsets will be unveiled: Sony Xperia XR and Xperia X Compact.
Sony might have opted for new names for its top notch phones this year, but they maintained their old strategy, which consists in releasing two flagships per year. Or at least that’s what the leaked specs are pointing to!
After introducing the Xperia X Performance back in February, it seems that the upcoming Sony Xperia XR will be the manufacturer’s top model. Multiple reports are claiming that the phone could go as Xperia XZ as well, but the most interesting aspect is the spec sheet!
The phone will apparently feature a 5.2″ display, most likely with a QHD resolution, while under the hood it will hide a Snapdragon 820 processor. The spec sheet is completed by 4 GB of RAM, a rear 23 MP camera, accompanied by a dual-LED flash, while on the front it’s going to be loaded with a 13 MP selfie unit. The USB-C port won’t be missing either. If such specs aren’t screaming ‘flagship’, we really don’t know what to think!
Moving on to the Sony Xperia X Compact, it is rumored to come with a 4.6″ display and a 2700 mAh battery. However, we’re talking about a Compact model from Sony here, meaning that it will be packing almost the same amount of power as its bigger brother!
The leaks reveal that it will be powered by the same Snapdragon 820 chipset, but with just 3 GB of RAM. It will also feature a USB-C port and, hopefully, the same camera setup.
For the moment, this is everything we know about the Sony Xperia XR and Xperia X Compact, but we will be back with more details, as soon as anything new comes up.
