Gaming isn’t what it used to be in the past, and with heavy games coming out on the daily, so would heavy gamer need laptops that can handle these kinds of graphics hungry applications. Samsung has risen to the occasion and at CES 2017, the South Korean OEM has launched two new gaming laptops.
Introduced under the Notebook Odyssey series, the new units are expected to be variants of each other, differing by a few specs and the screen size. Talking about screens, one of the models come with a 15.6-inch display while the other packs bigger 17.3-inch screen.
For starters, both units are alike in a number of ways a unique in a lot of other ways. For example, both the 15.6 inch and 17.3 inch models are expected to carry full HD screens with 1080p resolution. The screens would also feature wide angle and anti-glare displays to provide for the best experiences.
Under the hood, both units would be powered by Intel’s latest chipsets – 7th generation Kaby Lake processors. They start to get different with the 17.3-inch model opting to pack a massive 64GB DDR4 RAM and the 15.6-inch variant dialing back with a 32GB DDR$ RAM instead.
While they are both expected to run Windows 10 out of the box and feature a HexaFlow Vent cooling system from Samsung, the bigger unit would have 512GB PCle + 1TB HDD on the storage front. The smaller model would instead use 256GB PCle + 1TB HDD likewise, and come with an NVIDIA GTX1050 chipset for rendering graphics.
For the bigger model, we have no clue as to what graphics card runs underneath it. Both of the units weigh the same, tipping the scales at 3.79kg and they both carrying one of HDMI and LAN ports each. However, the bigger 17.3-inch model has one USB Type C port with Thunderbolt 3 support and four USB 3.0 ports.
The 15.6-inch variant comes with no Type C ports but instead, two USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 slot. While Samsung has not revealed anything as to the pricing and information, or even the launch date for that matter, we did know that we got both headphone and mic combo on both designs.
