There are just a few hours left until Samsung will officially announce the Galaxy Note 7, during the Unpacked event in New York City. However, this doesn’t mean that new details about the handset won’t keep coming!
The latest come from a presumed Verizon employee who revealed information Verizon sent today to store employees. To be more specific, we’re talking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 pre-order and release dates in the United States.
The phablet will be available for pre-order from the Big Red carrier starting with August 3, just one day after the official launch. This comes in contradiction with previous reports, claiming that pre-ordering will start right after the official announcement is made.
The same source mentions that the Galaxy Note 7 won’t be the only device introduced by Samsung tomorrow. Even though it’s been just a few months since the Gear VR made its debut, a new version of the virtual reality headset will be unveiled as well. We don’t know a lot of details about this, except the fact that it’s going to have a different color, compared to the previous variant, as well as a USB Type-C port. Of course, it’s obvious that most of the changes are made under the hood, the new Gear VR being able to deliver an improved virtual reality experience.
Speaking about the new headset, it will be available in Verizon stores starting with August 4 and, unlike a few months ago, when the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were launched, it won’t be given for free to anybody who pre-orders the Galaxy Note 7.
Finally, the phablet is expected to start being available in carriers’ offers from August 19. Neither Samsung or Verizon confirmed this, but if it turns out to be true, it’s very likely for the rest of the major carriers in the U.S., like AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint, to start selling it in the same time-frame.
