Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumor Round-Up: What We Know So Far

The much expected Samsung Galaxy S8 has since the leak of its first alleged picture become an attractive concept in the mobile tech world particularly since the Technological company suffered a huge setback on the Galaxy Note 7 production.

Rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy 8, however, maintain that Samsung is willing to wallop the market again and make up for the disappointment the Note 7 caused both its fans and tech enthusiasts. With this in mind, the first bit of information on the Samsung Galaxy S8 was the rumored 8GB of RAM which has been a source of debate on whether Samsung could pull it off or not.

However, since the first leak of the picture alleged to be the upcoming device from Samsung, several other rumors as to what the device is expected to pack along with the next generation tech that will be fitted had been circulating in the media.

With the worldwide recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 which makes the release date, pricing, specs and other information about the Galaxy S8 more relevant, here is a round-up of what we know so far about the much-expected device which Samsung hopes to be its Redemption from the Note 7 shame.

SPECS:

Specs wise, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to pack an impressive array of spec upgrades under its hood ranging from the much talked about 8 GB of RAM. Analysts, however, suggested that Samsung may dial back on the option to fit the device with a 6 GB RAM instead. The processor is expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with a possible Exynos 8895-based variant.

Other specs expected of the smartphone is the fingerprint sensor expected to be mounted underneath the home button as against earlier rumors that Samsung may be planning to fit the sensor on the back panel just below the camera. Other rumors suggest that Samsung may as well feature an optical fingerprint sensor on the conventional device.

The Galaxy S8 is also rumored to likely pack an enhanced artificial intelligence service following Samsung’s acquisition of Viv Labs which had previously founded Siri which has become Apple’s digital assistant. Rumor holds that Samsung may plan to name the male voice assistant Bixby and the female, Kestra.

The smartphone which was earlier rumored to launch in February at the World Congress (MWC) may have been pushed back until April for further checks as the latest rumor holds that Samsung is planning its launch for April 18. The device is also rumored to pack 256GB of internal storage size which suggests it may come in variants of 32GB and 64GB with a microSD slot. It is also rumored to pack a 16 MP camera on the back coupled with another 8 MP lens although latest leaks suggest it might not be a possible feat based on the design adopted.

The Galaxy S8 is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch 4K (2160×3840 pixels) Super AMOLED display as well as a 6.2-inch variant which will be jack-less as in Apple’s iPhone 7.

Possible pricing o the device is, however, unknown as Samsung has kept the lid tight on the detail, rumors, however, suggest that Samsung might b looking to drop the price on the device or equal it to the release price of the worldwide recalled Note 7 which went for about $670. Goldman Sachs, however, predicted that Samsung would not drop the price on the expected smartphone, it noted that the Galaxy S8 might be available for a 15 to 20 percent price increase compared to the Galaxy Note 7.
