Samsung has finally rolled out the much rumored Android 7.0 Nougat update to its Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Recall that earlier in the year there have been rumors which held that the smartphone company which had been testing the OS update on the smartphone which was released just last year had made the OS Update available.
The Android 7.0 Nougat OS roll out has however been confirmed by the smartphone company to hit the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge with a promise to roll out the OS update to other older devices as the year runs by especially the S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, Note 5, and others.
According to Samsung while confirming the release of the OS to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the Android 7.0 Nougat will officially be rolled out for the older versions before the end of the year’s first half.
The South Korean tech company further revealed that apart from the devices listed above, other older versions it has listed for the OS upgrade include the Galaxy Tab A with support for S Pen and Galaxy Tab S2.
The Android update will however bring along with it some other features notable among it are the UX changes which will include upgrades features including multi-window, new Quick panel and notifications, Samsung Pass, along with performance mode all added on to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
Compared to the older OS, the Quick panel feature will sport a cleaner look which is devoid of titles and icons which. All titles and icons have subsequently been organised into nine groups which allows easier location and a cleaner look.
The multi window function also allows users of the updated device to work with a split screen which means users can run up to seven applications on their smartphone simultaneously with the notification integration grouping display details in a clear and fashionable manner to allow for Direct Reply from activity screen.
Asides these, the performance mode allows a variation of options including the Optimized mode which extends the battery life, Game mode, Entertainment mode with enhanced image and sound quality and the High-Performance mode which displays the highest quality of display settings on the device.
The added on features is expected to roll out with the OS Update to older versions before the end of the year.
