Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Roundup: What We Know So Far

We’re a few weeks away from the Unpacked 2016 event, where Samsung is scheduled to reveal the new Galaxy Note 7. Samsung is already dubbing this new phone as ‘the next big thing’ as part of their marketing campaign; don’t worry, they did this last year too. We’ve seen a lot of leaked photos of the new device, but a recent video might offer the best look at the Galaxy Note 7 to date.

The 26-second video shows the supposed Galaxy Note 7 in action. It doesn’t confirm some of the more anticipated rumors, such as whether it really comes with an iris scanner (and how the scanner will work), but it does show a smooth, very fluid UI as a user shifts through the menu.

The video also reveals a dual-edge screen. It is not clear whether we’ll see added features tied to these edges, but I can tell you that the Galaxy Note 7 will look stunning in your hand.

Update – Leaked Several More Photos.

What We Know So Far

There are a few things we do know about the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 so far. We know that it will come with the Exynos 8893 SoC/processor as well as the Snapdragon 82x (possibly Snapdragon 820 or even the 823) in certain regions like the US. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 pairs the processor with 4GB of RAM for blazing fast operations.

We can also expect Samsung to improve the included 12-megapixel main camera. This is the feature I look forward to the most, since I’m very impressed with the leap Samsung made on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. A front-facing 5 megapixel camera is also present alongside an iris sensor.

Another thing to note is the operating system. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Grace UI, Samsung’s latest user interface. The dual-curved, 5.7-inch display is capable of displaying the interface in QHD resolution.

It is also safe to assume that Samsung will include a 4,000mAh battery to support this device. Based on the processor, RAM and screen combination, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be a power-hungry device. 4,000mAh of battery and quick charging are certainly necessary to keep user experience at its best.
