Who hasn’t heard of the Samsung Galaxy Notes series? We don’t believe you if you say you didn’t, so you should read on to find out all you need to know about the most recent device released under this name, the Note 7. Finally, after so many weeks of leaking info, renders, photos and specs about their latest release, Samsung decided not to keep us in tension anymore and to announce it.
Up until S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung didn’t seem to care too much about the design of their devices. However, they quit the fake metal and plastic looks of their old phones and started going for a more top-tier look of their Note products. The new release will be made of glass panels placed both on the front and on the back. Its frame is made of aluminum and it has a curved design, similar to the S7 Edge one.
Above the screen you can see the front camera and the speaker, and under it you’ll find the home button which includes a fingerprint sensor.
Of course, the specs for this top-notch device are great. The display measures 5.7 inches and it’s a dual-edge one. It is in fact a Super AMOLED one with a resolution of 2560×1440, which means a 518 ppi if you do the math. The processor could be a quadcore 64-bit one, which is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Samsung could use an octa-core Exynos 8. According to the information, it will have 4 G RAM, LPDDR4.
The storage will be 64 GB, but you will be able to extend it up to 256 GB through a microSD card. The front camera has 5 MP, while the rear one is a dual pixel 12 MP one with OIS. Both of them have a f/1.7 aperture. The 3500 mAh of the battery should last enough, but even if they don’t, you can fast charge it, and the phone also supports PMA and WPC wireless charging.
Regarding the connectivity part, the device supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/a/c (2.4/5 GHz). Also, it works on Bluetooth v4.2 LE, USB Type-C and NFC. Determining the location is based on GPS, Beidou and Glonass. It also has lots of sensors: a geomagnetic one, hall, HR, iris, proximity, RGB light, fingerprint and barometer.
The software is, of course, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, though it is possible to receive the upgrade for Android 7. You can choose between Black Onyx, Silver, Gold Platinum and Blue Coral color options. Also, the phone is quite light, since it weighs only 169 g and it measures 153.5×73.9×7.9 mm.
