Lately, there have been a lot of rumours about the folks over OnePlus 3 being discontinued, in favour of a new handset and this would have been a completely natural move. Even more, some reports were mentioning something about a OnePlus 3, but it turns out that the Chinese manufacturer will opt for a completely different name: OnePlus 3T.
One of the company’s designers recently posted an image of it on Weibo, using the OnePlus 3T itself. Of course, this could be an error, but it was enough to keep the rumour mill running. Besides this, an unknown OnePlus smartphone was also spotted on the Chinese FCC’s website, meaning that we could be very close to a launch.
OnePlus will be staying with Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future.

The handset is said to feature a Snapdragon 821 chipset under the hood and will come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. We don’t know what to believe about the latter, since OnePlus is using their own custom ROM, OxygenOS, so the operating system will most likely be a new ROM, based on Google’s latest release.
Finally, the OnePlus 3T is also rumoured to use an LCD panel, instead of an OLED one, but co-founder Carl Pei mentioned that they will continue using Optic AMOLED display for a longer period.
