The Chinese brand, Xiaomi, is busy on developing the new skin, MIUI 9, for its smartphones. And if we believe on rumors and leaks, then the upcoming UI is getting a split screen multitasking functionality like we have seen in the latest Android N. Not only split screen functionality, MIUI is expected to have several other changes in UI and internal features. Seeing few recent leaks, we can say that MIUI would get a new and improved lock screen, notification panel, settings menu, and great customization options.
Talking about the lock screen, it seems that MIUI 9 would get a bunch of options right on the lock screen at the bottom side to quick launch some apps or features. As of now, it is only known that flashlight toggle button would be there. Few more leaks suggest that there would be numbers of shortcuts on lock screen which are China-centric but the good part here is, every user would get the ability to customize the device’s lock screen and its shortcut as per as his/her requirement.
Coming to the split-screen multitasking mode, the best part here is, this feature would be available to every device, even it is running on Android Marshmallow. In pure Android phones, the split screen mode comes only with Android N update. There are several third party apps available in Play Store, which lets you create split screen mode, but they aren’t stable enough.
Xiaomi has already confirmed few of its new features about lock screen from its official Weibo account but sadly the company hasn’t disclosed the official date of its release. However, rumors claim that the company may announce the new MIUI 9 on August 16.
