You don’t have to be an iOS fan in order to admit that when it comes to photography, iPhones do a pretty amazing job, especially if we’re talking about the latest 6s and 6s Plus models. However, there’s always room for improvement!
Apparently, Microsoft is sharing the same thoughts, as they introduced today a brand new camera app, designed especially for all iOS-running devices. Going by the name of Microsoft Pix, it’s relying on artificial intelligence to tweak your photos and videos, obtaining the best results. And the best part is that everything is done automatically!
To be more specific, Microsoft Pix chooses the best exposure for your footage, reduces noise, keeps colors as accurate as possible and even recognizes faces. Basically, it makes your images look like they have been taken in the best lighting conditions.
Even more, the app includes a feature very similar to Live Photos, called Live Image. Microsoft claims that it is even better than iOS’, being able to eliminate camera instability and all inconsistencies caused by exposure.
Microsoft Pix can also be used to tweak videos, not just photos. Using the same technology found in the Hyperlapse app, it can stabilize frame and, obviously, save clips at different playback speeds.
The app is already available in the App Store and it’s compatible with any iPhone 5s, SE, 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus running iOS 9.0 or higher. It also works on iPad and iPod touch, running iOS 9.0 or higher.
No details about a potential release for Android-running devices was given until now, but it might as well happen in the near future, considering that Hyperlapse was also made available for Android.
