LG had an incredibly busy day today, as they announced five new mid-range smartphones, all of them expected to make their debut during next month’s CES2017: the new LG Stylo 3, as well as an upgraded version of the K series, K10, K8, K4 and K3.
The first one, the LG Stylo 3, is a mid-range handset, running Android 7.0 Nougat, and it features a stylus pen, perfect for the 5.7″ HD display. It’s powered by an octa-core MediaTek chip, running at 1.5 GHz, alongside 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The rear mounted camera has a 13 MP sensor, while on the front, it comes with an 8 MP unit. The battery has a capacity of 3200 mAh and it also features a fingerprint scanner!
Moving on to the new K series, we’re looking at four mid-range handsets, perfect for everybody who’s looking forward to buying their first Android smartphone and they’re on a budget.
Starting with the new LG K10, it comes with a 5.3″ HD display, while under the hood it has the same processor as the Stylus 3: an octa-core MediaTek, clocked at 1.5 GHz. The chip is aided by 2 GB of RAM and it has 16 or 32 gigs of storage. As for the camera department, it’s represented by a 13/5 MP duo, while the battery has a capacity of 2800 mAh. Oh, and this one also has a fingerprint scanner and runs Android 7.0 Nougat.
Next, we have the LG K8, a smaller handset, rocking a 5.0″ HD display and powered by a Snapdragon chipset, with four cores running at 1.4 GHz. The spec sheet is completed by 1.5 GB of memory and 16 GB of expandable storage, while the camera setup is the same as on the K10, 13 MP on the rear and 5 on the front. The battery has a capacity of 2500 mAh and the OS is Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat.
The LG K4 is another nice 5.0″ smartphone, but the resolution of just 480 x 854 pixels is a big minus, as well as the quad-core Snapdragon 210 chip, clocked at 1.1 GHz, aided by 1 GB of RAM and just 8 GB of expandable storage. But hey, on the other side, it’s great for an entry level handset! The rear and front cameras are using the same 5 MP sensor, while the battery has a capacity of 2500 mAh, which should last for more than a day, considering the resolution. It comes with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
Finally, we have the LG K3, a 4.5″ smartphone, with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and powered by the Snapdragon 210, with four cores running at 1.1 GHz. It also has 1 GB of RAM and 8 gigs of storage, expandable, thanks to the presence of a microSD card slot. The main camera is relying on a 5 MP sensor, while on the front, it has just a 2 MP one. As for the battery, it has a capacity of 2100 mAh. Just like the K4, it’s running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
The prices of these five handsets weren’t announced, but more details will definitely be given during LG’s event at CES 2017.
