Kyocera ‘Rafre’, The Second Generation Washable Smartphone Launched In Japan

Kyocera has introduced its new second generation washable smartphone, with all the washable features. This smartphone can be washed using soaps and also resists hot water wash. The smartphone will be on our hands from March 2017 in Japan, which comes in three attractive colors: pale pink; clear white; and light blue.

This handset is a successor of the ‘Digno Rafre’, which was previously launched by the company, in December 2015 as the world’s first washable smartphone. The company has officially announced it on Friday that this smartphone is even more advanced than its predecessor.

The device has a 5-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, with Dragontrail X protection. The device is empowered with a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 430 processor, with Adreno 505 GPU that is coupled with the latest Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS. It consists of 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory space that is expandable via microSD cards upto 200 GB. The device consists of 13 MP rear camera with a LED flash light and 2 MP selfie camera.  When it comes to the connectivity, it supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The whole unit is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. It also important to note that the device is shockproof, waterproof and Dustproof. The option to answer calls via hand gestures without even touching the display, is really a needed one for this water-resistant smartphone.

This device can be ordered through KDDI for 43200 YEN, which is around 376 USD or 25660 INR approximately. Considering its features, the device seems to be very expensive, since we can buy a pretty good affordable smartphone, with all the above mentioned features, just by excluding the ‘washable capabilities’.

Like we already said, this smartphones has a pre-installed special cooking app that would let its users to scroll through a wide range of recipes and set timers.
