How to Install CM14 (CyanogenMod 14) on Android Smartphone

When it comes to choosing a custom ROM, CM14 (CyanogenMod 14) is one of the best options of the moment! It’s based on Android 7.0 Nougat and it brings all the new features introduced by Google’s latest operating system, as well as a lot of extras. Installing CM14 (CyanogenMod 14) is a relatively easy process, but before starting, there are a few aspects you need to take into consideration!

  • Make sure you follow all the steps below correctly, since there’s always the risk of bricking your phone when you want to install CM14 on Android.
  • The process will erase all the data on your phone, so make sure you perform a full backup before starting.
  • Check your battery level, as it has to be between 50 and 60%, in order to avoid an accidental shutdown. Our recommendation is to start a fully charged battery.

 

How to install CM14 (CyanogenMod 14) on Android

 

Step 1: Download and install a custom recovery on your Android handset. If you already have it, you can skip this step.

Step 2: Download the CM14 custom ROM for your specific device and save it in the phone’s internal memory.

Step 3: Press and hold Volume down and the Power button, in order to boot your device into Recovery Mode.

Step 4: While in Recovery Mode, create a Nandroid backup, in order to prevent an ugly situation, when you lose all your data.

Step 5: Go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe and select Wipe cache, Dalvik cache, System and data. Swipe in order to confirm the Factory Reset.

Step 6: Go to Install and select the CM14 custom ROM zip file. Swipe in order to start the installation process, which shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes.

Step 7: Repeat the step above, but for the GApps package, if you want to use the Google apps as well.

Step 8: Go to Wipe > Advanced wipe, but this time select only Wipe cache & Dalvik cache.

Step 9: Reboot your device.
