As we already know that Qualcomm and the tech giant Google have been working together to develop standalone VR headsets but seeing the recent announcement, it seems that the Taiwanese company HTC is also working with Qualcomm in order to develop a standalone Vive VR headsets.
Now, to those who don’t know what Standalone VR headsets are. Standalone VR headsets are simple VR headsets which don’t require any third party hardware like PC or high-end mobile phone in order to enjoy virtual reality as these headsets work standalone.
As of now, no specification has been revealed about the upcoming Standalone Vive VR except for the two things, first that this headset will be powered by Snapdragon 835 mobile VR platform and the second that it will be launched only in the Chinese market. Now, it is believed that this Standalone Vive VR will be very much affordable as compared to existing Vive VR headsets as it wouldn’t require any third party hardware or device to function.
We all know that HTC Vive VR headset uses a room scale tracking and motion tracking technologies, which allow the users to enjoy in 3D space and interact with the environment. However, it is believed that the company might be working on new technology as per as Chinese market, for the upcoming Standalone Vive VR.
Sadly, the company hasn’t announced what price tag it would get but still, experts are believing that it would be affordable. On the other hand, few rumors have indicated that the company would launch this Vive VR in China later this year.
