Honor Play Pad 2 New Budget Tablet in 9.6 and 8 inch Versions Announced

Tablets have never been any lesser than smartphones, in terms of entertainment, gaming and surfing experiences, anytime. Hence, no smartphone maker has ever done away with tablets, though they are busy in the making of new-age smartphones. In the same way now, Huawei has added a new budget-friendly tab, the Honor Play Pad 2, to its Honor tablets series.

The Honor Play Pad 2 is made available in two different versions, based on its display size, i.e. 9.6-inch and 8-inch display screens. In terms of design, both the versions of the new tab sports a stunning aluminium body; weighs 350g; and measures just 7.95mm in thickness, with its corners rounded. Well, both these are truly an amazing aspects, for a cost effective latest devices.

In further, though these two new beauties hold the same design outlook, they bear a prominent difference, when it comes to the ports. Correspondingly, the charging and audio ports are placed at the left side of the 9.6-inch version.

Hence, if you’re holding it in landscape orientation, you’ll have the speaker grilles at the bottom. And that isn’t the same in the case of smaller version, where the audio jack is placed at the top.

Further, they have got 16GB/32GB built-in storage, which are expandable up to 128GB, via a microSD card.

For imaging duties, they’ve got a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP front facing camera; well, both are just a neat addition for a budget device, again. On the software front, they run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS, overlaid with EMUI 5.1. Besides, they have also got an effective parental control features and kids mode, making it safer for children to use, in this net head filled world.

Both the versions, draws power from a 4800 mAh battery. Though, we couldn’t complain about the battery capacity, we feel that the larger version could have given a larger battery for its bigger display.

The new Honor Play Pad 2, is made available for purchase via Vmall, Lynx and Jingdong. Coming to the pricing details, the 2GB RAM variant of the 8-inch version costs ¥700 (~$116) for the Wi-Fi only variant; and the LTE variant of the 2GB and 3GB models costs ¥999 (~$145) and ¥1299 (~$189) respectively.
