After yesterday’s launch event, everybody was curious about the exact date when they will be able to buy the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. The company announced that the pre-orders are have already started in US, UK and a couple of European countries, while fans from India will be able to place a pre-order as well, starting with October 13. The phones will go on sale one week later, on October 20.
As for the prices for India, Google announced that the 5.0″ Pixel will have a price tag of INR 57,000 (~$855), for the 32 GB variant. It’s way more expensive than in the United States, where it starts at $649, but somehow, this was expected. The 128 GB model, on the other side, will be a bit more expensive, retailing at INR 66,000 (~$990).
Moving on to the larger handset, the Google Pixel XL, the 32 GB model will set you back INR 67,000 (~$1,005). If you want even more storage space, the 128 GB model will also be available, for INR 76,000 (~$1,140).
The handsets will be available just in Quite Black and Very Silver, as the Really Blue model is a U.S. exclusive. As mentioned above, from October 13, retailers like Flipkart, Chroma, Reliance digital and many other will have the phones in their offer, so you will be able to pre-order them.
“Pixel users will have access to a toll free phone support number along with 54 walk in service centres across 30+ cities in India,” and official blog post by Google said.
It will be very interesting to observe how the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will perform in India, compared to the recently launched iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, as there’s no secret that Google is aiming directly at Apple with this two new smartphones.
