How To

Download Unofficial CM14 For Moto G 2nd Gen (2014)

The Moto G 2nd Gen (2014) is one of the phones who always received the latest updates on time, but it’s already an outdated model and it won’t receive the official Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, if you still want to experience Google’s latest operating system on it, you can now do it, using a custom ROM. The unofficial CM14 for Moto G 2nd Gen is currently available, thanks to the XDA Developer community. Despite being an alpha build, with some missing features, it’s still usable, being perfect for those who want to update their handsets. Here’s what you need to know in order to start!

Warnings & Requirements

  • The unofficial CM14 for Moto G 2nd Gen is an alpha build, so expect to deal with bugs and lack certain features. However, it will be improved with time!
  • The ROM works just on the Moto G 2nd Gen, introduced in 2014. Don’t try installing it on another device, as it won’t work at all.
  • The updating process will completely erase the data on your phone. It is recommended to perform a full backup before proceeding, in order to avoid an unpleasant situation.
  • Don’t forget to check your phone’s battery level before starting. Even though a battery level above 60% is enough, our recommendation is to start with it fully charge, so you can prevent an accidental shutdown.
  • Follow the steps presented above carefully, otherwise you risk completely damaging your phone.
