Warnings & Requirements
Please take a few moments to notice the following aspects, in order to avoid any issues during the installation process:
- The installation may erase the data on your phone, so we advise you to take a full backup of the phone first, then proceed.
- Check the battery. It should be at least 50-60%, so you can prevent an accidental shutdown in-between the process.
- Unlock your phone’s bootloader, otherwise, you can’t install the update.
- Enable the USB Debugging mode.
Install MIUI 188.8.131.52 Stable ROM on Mi Max 2
The update can be installed in two methods, using the Fastboot ROM or Recovery ROM. Below you have the steps you need to follow for both of them.
Step 1: Check your phone’s MIUI version and make sure it’s 8.
Step 2: Using the link above, download the MIUI 184.108.40.206 for Mi Max 2 (Recovery ROM), then save it on the device.
Step 3: Launch the Updater app.
Step 4: Click on the … icon, from the top-right corner, then select the ‘Choose update package’ option.
Step 5: Wait until the installation is completed. When it’s done, your phone will reboot to the latest version of the operating system.
Step 1: Download the Mi Flash Tool – Download, then extract it and install it on your desktop or laptop. The tool can be downloaded from here.
Step 2: Download the MIUI 220.127.116.11 Stable ROM for Mi Max 2 from above.
Step 3: Press Volume Down + Power, in order to boot the phone into Fastboot mode.
Step 4: Using a micro USB cable, connect the phone to a PC.
Step 5: Extract the Fastboot ROM, then copy the path.
Step 6: Open the Mi Flash Tool, then, in the address bar, paste the path copied at the previous step.
Step 7: Click the Refresh button and wait until it recognizes your phone. It should happen instantly.
Step 8: Click on the Flash button, in order to start installing MIUI 18.104.22.168 Stable ROM for Mi Max 2. It should take just a few minutes.
Step 9: After it’s done, wait until the phone boots to the latest MIUI version.
