As you probably know, OnePlus just announced that their latest update, Oxygen OS 4.0.2 for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, will begin rolling out via the air today. It’s expected to fix some minor issues, like battery drains or other bugs, including a fix for the proximity sensor bug during calls, a fix for the Google Play download bug and increased system stability, so don’t get too excited if you see a notification asking you to update your operating system.
Speaking about the notifications, the Oxygen OS 4.0.2 update is scheduled to roll out in a phased manner, so not everybody will receive it at the same time. If you don’t want to wait until you get the notification, we have a good news: you can also install Oxygen OS 4.0.2 on OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T manually, by simply following the guide below.
Note: Before anything else, check your phone for the update! Go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update and see if it’s already available or not. If it’s not, proceed with the instructions!
Before proceeding with installation, here are a few aspects you should consider:
- This update is just for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. Don’t try installing it on another device, since it won’t work!
- The update won’t erase your data, but our recommendation is to perform a full backup before starting, so you can avoid an unpleasant situation and lose everything you have on the phone.
- Please check your battery level! It needs to be around 50-60%, otherwise you might deal with an unexpected shutdown, in-between process.
- Follow the instructions correctly and don’t skip any steps, since you can brick your phone.
