Launched back in 2015, as the most affordable member of the Galaxy A family, the Samsung Galaxy A3 shortly became one of the manufacturer’s most popular handsets. If you own one and want to obtain the max out of your phone, you’re in luck.
Samsung has recently started rolling out the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update over the air (OTA) For Korean only, for the Galaxy A3 SM-A310N0, after the Galaxy A5, A7 an A8 received it. Unfortunately, it’s available OTA just in Korea, so until then, you can install the update on your own, manually.
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update Feature’s
Being an official update, it is very stable, so you can use it on your daily phone without any issues. Like expected, it brings a lot of new features, including security and stability updates. Of course, one of the most important additions is the DOZE mode, which will significantly improve your battery life.
Warnings & Requirement’s
- This update works just for the Samsung Galaxy A3 SM-A310N0. Don’t install it on other versions, as it won’t work.
- Your battery level should be over 80% before starting this, but our recommendation would be to start with a fully charged battery.
- Perform a full backup of your data, in order to avoid any unpleasant situations.

Manually Update Galaxy A3 To Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 Firmware
Step 1: Download and Install the Galaxy USB drivers on your computer. You can find them here – Link
Step 2: Go to Settings > About Phone > Build Version. Tap on it 7 times, until the ‘Developer Options Enabled’ message is displayed.
Step 3: In the Developer Options Menu, search for USB Debugging. Tick the box next to it.
Step 4: Download the Official stock Marshmallow 6.0.1 firmware from Above link.
Step 5: Download and Unzip the Odin v3.10.6 zip file From Above link and extract it. Then, run the .exe file.
Step 6: Boot your Samsung Galaxy A3 into Download Mode, powering it on then pressing Volume Down + Power + Home. Press Volume Up to enter Download Mode.
Step 7: Connect your phone to the PC via USB. Odin will notify you that the two are connected.
Step 8: Choose AP in Odin and select the update file. It has a .tar.md5 format after unzipping.
Step 9: Click on the “Start” button in Odin, in order to start the process. The flashing will being shortly.
Step 10: After flashing the new firmware is completed, which should take a few minutes, your phone will reboot.
