Samsung has some good news for Galaxy A7 SM-A700FD owners! The official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware just started rolling out and it’s now available OTA in Asia.
The update with the build number A700FDXXU1CPG1 is now available for the first gen Galaxy A7 in Asia and it’s being rolled out in stages, so not all users will get it at the same time. Therefore, if it’s not available in your area, you can’t install it over-the-air, so the only option remains doing it manually.
Below you can find a short guide containing everything you need to know about downloading and installing Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on Samsung Galaxy A7, using the Odin flashing tool. Let’s begin, shall we?
Warnings & Requirements
- The process could erase the data on your phone completely. In order to avoid unpleasant situations, perform a full backup of your phone.
- A700FDXXU1CPG1 is an unbranded firmware, so you won’t get any pre-installed apps or extra language packs.
- Make sure you have all the Galaxy A7 USB drivers installed.
- If you’re currently using a custom ROM, it will be lost after the stock update. Also, your custom recovery, if you have one, will be replaced by the stock version.
- The battery should be above 80% before starting, but our recommendation would be to start with 100%, in order to avoid an accidental shut down.
