CyanogenMod 14 (CM14) is definitely the hottest custom ROMs of the moment (Based on Android 7.0 Nougat) and we have some good news for OnePlus X owners: it will soon be available for the handset, as it’s currently under development. However, a first working build is available and, despite the fact that it contains a lot of bugs, can be used on the phone!
Thanks to XDA Developers, CM 14 for OnePlus X is now available, based on Google’s latest operating system, Android 7.0 Nougat. Looking forward to download and install it on your phone? Here’s what you need to know…
First of all, in order to be able to install the unofficial build, your OnePlus X needs to be rooted and have TWRP Recovery installed. Also, it’s missing several features, so it’s not recommended for daily use. However, if you still want to try it, here’s exactly what to expect from the ROM:
Features that work
- Creating a hotspot
Features that don’t work
- Tri-state keys
Also, these are the aspects you should be aware of before proceeding to installing CM 14 for OnePlus X:
- The ROM is specifically designed for OnePlus X. Don’t use it on other phones.
- As mentioned above, it’s an initial alpha build, so it comes with bugs and other issues.
- Follow the steps below correctly when installing, otherwise you risk bricking your phone.
- The updating process will completely erase your data, so it’s recommended to make a full backup of your phone, in order to avoid an unpleasant situation.
- Make sure that your phone has a battery level above 60%. However, our recommendation is to start with a fully charged battery, so you can avoid an accidental shutdown.
