Taiwanese manufacturer Asus launched its latest Zenfone series back in May, during the Computex 2016 event, and fans from all over the world were looking forward to getting their hands on the new handsets, Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Ultra and Zenfone 3 Deluxe.
There’s no need to mention that India was one of the markets that was craving for these new phones, but the wait is over, as the Z3nvolution event is now over and shortly, the three handsets will become available on Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and in the Sangeetha Mobiles chain store. Also, all leading retail stores across India will sell them before the end of the month!
Let’s see what each of these three models brings, shall we?
Asus Zenfone 3
The first member of the new Zenfone series comes in two variants, with a 5.2 or 5.5 inch Super IPS+ display and a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 from Corning.
Under the hood, it’s rocking an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chip, running at 2.0 GHz, alongside an Adreno 506 GPU. Depending on the model, it has 3 GB of RAM and 32 gigs of internal storage (for the ZE520KL model), or 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of space (the ZE552KL). Both phones support microSD cards.
Moving on, we’re looking at a 16 MP camera on the back of the Asus Zenfone 3, with dual LED flash, laser auto-focus, as well as an 8 MP front-facing camera, with wide angle lens.
The spec sheet is completed by a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3000 mAh battery, while the operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow, customized with Asus’ Zen UI 3.0 interface.
The 5.2″ Asus Zenfone 3 has a price tag of Rs. 21,999, while the 5.5″ version costs Rs. 27.999.
Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra
This is more than a phablet! The new Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra has a huge 6.8″ display, but with the same full HD resolution as the previous model. It’s true, a QHD panel would’ve been better…
The handset is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chip, with four ARM Cortex-A72 cores, clocked at 1.8 GHz, and four Cortex-A52 ones, running at 1.2 GHz. The processor is aided by 4 GB of RAM and an Adreno 510 graphics chip, while the internal storage capacity counts 64 GB, with the possibility of expanding it, using a microSD card slot.
We were pleasantly surprised by the rear-mounted camera, using a 23 MP Sony IMX318 sensor, with a dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis optical image stabilization and laser auto-focus. The selfie unit is not bad either, having the same configuration as the Zenfone 3: 8 MP and wide angle lens.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra also comes with a fingerprint sensor, 4600 mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 and a set of dual Five-magnet stereo speakers, aided by an NXP smart amplifier. The operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with the same Zen UI.
You can get this handset for Rs. 49.999.
Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe
Finally, the third member of Asus’ new series is the Zenfone 3 Deluxe, a 5.7″ handset, using a Super AMOLED panel, with a full HD resolution and protected by Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass 4.
We have all the reasons to believe that this is the top notch model of the series, being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chip, with a quad-core configuration, alongside an Adreno 530 GPU and a whooping 6 GB of RAM. The phone is also available with a Snapdragon 821, if you want even more power!
When it comes to the internal storage, the 820 version has ‘just’ 64 GB, while the 821 model comes with an impressive amount of 256 GB of storage. If you want even more space for your files, both variants support microSD cards.
Moving on to the camera department, we’re looking at the same 23 MP sensor on the back and 8 MP on the front, from the Zenfone 3 Ultra. The fingerprint scanner is also present on the back of the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe, as well as the speaker system seen on the 6.8″ phablet.
The battery has a capacity of 3000 mAh, just enough for a 5.7″ handset, featuring Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 3.0 and BoostMaster Fast Charging. Finally, we should also mention that the Asus Zenfone 3 Delux is coming with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, customized with ZenUI 3.0.
The Snapdragon 820 variant of the handset will get you Rs. 49.99 out of the pocket, while the high-end Snapdragon 821 model is priced at Rs. 62.999.
