Apple’s New 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 images Reveals

We’ve seen a lot of iPhone 7 leaks lately, but a lot of us forgot that the iPad Pro, the 12.9-inch model in particular, is scheduled for a refresh in fall as well. The September event may reveal more than just new iPhones. Now, we have the first leak to examine.

The leaked photos came from a source in China. As always, this type of leaks must be taken with a grain of salt. That said, there are a few interesting – quite tasty – details we can learn about the (supposed) new 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

First of all, the code for the device shown in the pictures, MH1C2CD/F, is a device identifier that doesn’t belong to any of the current iPads. We may be looking at a new device after all. It is also interesting to note that the device ID is in line with Apple’s ID convention so far.

Based on the details revealed on the screen, we can also conclude that this is not a production iPad. The device only has 12GB of storage. To put that into perspective, 12GB is just enough for iOS and some basic apps. This could mean the shown iPad is a prototype or a testing unit.

What about 3D Touch? Although an iPad Pro with 3D Touch would be very interesting, there are still so much Apple has to do to apply the technology in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Adding 3D Touch to a screen that large is a huge undertaking.

As always, we just have to wait for a few weeks to see if the refresh is indeed true. A lot of Apple fans and experts are already saying no to this leak, suggesting that going from pre-production testing unit to a production one takes more than just a couple of weeks. But this is Apple we’re talking about; they’ve pulled some crazy stunts before.

It is also worth noting that we’re expecting the company to refresh its MacBook Pro lineup this fall. Will we see a thinner, faster MacBook Pros too?
