Apple will introduce new “theatre mode” in iOS 10.3 beta 1 update (Rolling out on 10 January)

Even though it’s been just a few weeks since Apple introduced the iOS 10.2 update, it seems that it won’t be long until the Cupertino-based company will release a new variant, 10.3.

A leakster revealed that the iOS 10.3 beta 1 update will began rolling out on January 10 and one of its most interesting features will be called ‘theatre mode’.

The feature was revealed by Twitter-based tipster Sonny Dickison, who also confirmed that the update is currently going by the name of ‘Erie’. Also, ‘theatre mode’, he claims, will be recognised by a popcorn-icon on the control centre, being an enhanced version of Dark Mode.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with this, Dark Mode is something Apple has started talking about since the release of iOS 10 beta and it’s a feature able to dim the display and replace the whites with black. Therefore, it makes is way easier to stare at the phone in a dark environment, but it’s also great, if not ideal, for OLED displays.

This new feature, brought by iOS 10.3 beta 1, could confirm one of the most popular rumours about the iPhone 8. To be more specific, we’re talking about the smartphone rocking an OLED display, which will definitely improve the phone’s battery life, since it doesn’t consume that much power. Of course, we’re aware of the fact that there are several ways through which this mode can be enabled on current iOS versions, but iOS 10.3 beta 1 will make everything easier than ever.
