Although it was believed until recently that only the Google Nexus devices will get the Android Nougat preview builds, apparently there are other OEMs that want to test the preview build so they could release an update for their particular devices as soon as possible.
Recently, someone managed to release an OTA for Huawei P9 and some have gotten a hold of it and even managed to post screenshots of the Android Nougat preview build running on the Huawei P9.
Somebody even posted a three minute video of the preview build on the Huawei P9 and it shoes the major changes that will come with the update. While there are some general optimizations and improved interactive gestures which are to be expected, there is also multi-user support and an added power saving tech that can decrease screen resolution in order to save power which is a first for Huawei. The detailed changes can be seen on the XDA developers’ site complete with many screenshots.
However, this is not the final build for the Android 7.0 Nougat OS and if you’ve downloaded the update for Nexus or Huawei, keep in mind that you may encounter errors and bugs. Moreover, it’s very possible that the final build for the Android Nougat will be very different from this preview build. Some features may stay while others may be taken out.
More importantly, if you have updated your Huawei P9 device to this preview build, there’s a good chance it may stay like that because it’s not an official Huawei update release. Furthermore, when that version actually comes it may be impossible for you to update to it and you’ll more likely want to revert to the initial OS. There are several options for you to do that, but if they all fail, you’ll have to take your phone to a software service.
