As the MWC is on, all the major smartphone manufacturers have a hand full of new flagships to be launched. Well, the TCL-owned Alcatel had successfully crossed that stage, by launching three of its new smartphones, including the one that has an illuminating back cover, teased a few weeks back, officially at the MWC 2017.
Apparently, the released ones are namely Alcatel A3, U5 and A5 LED; along with its 2-in-1 Windows Tablet, Alcatel Plus 12. The A5 LED caught a bit of expectations, since its teaser was out. Here, it has only come with entry-level specs, but the light up at the back case is very catchy that could show off patterns, while playing music, and even intimates notifications.
Alcatel A5 LED
Apart from the catchy LED light up, it sports a 5.2-inch IPS HD display, with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution; powered by a MediaTek MT6753 Octa-Core processor that clocks at 1.5GHz; 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM expandable, through the MicroSD card slot; and runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Furthermore, it features an 8MP main camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing selfie camera. Both the sensors have the capacity of recording videos at Full HD resolution. The A5 LED is powered by a 2,800mAh battery and supports connectivity options like 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.
It is the second one in the line. Unlike the A5 LED, this one’s hardware specs are furtherly weaker. It seems to be hefty, with the thick bezels around the display. The polycarbonate body gives a textured-finish on the back. Talking about the specs and camera: It has a 5-inch HD display; powered by 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 processor; 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM; fingerprint sensor; 2,460mAh battery capacity; 13MP rear camera; and 5MP front shooter. Moreover, both the cameras come with a LED flash.
While comparing the U5 with A5 and A3, its specs seem to be very basic. It comes with a 5-inch display with FWVGA a52 x 480 resolutions; MediaTek MT6737M processor clocked at 1.1GHz; packs a 1GB of RAM; and 16GB of ROM. For power, it features a 2,050 mAh battery as well as supporting dual SIM and 4G LTE connectivity. Alcatel has brought up that U5 is the most affordable 4G LTE Smartphone. And finally, the U5 runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
Yet, Alcatel has not revealed the pricing and availability details of these smartphones.
